Investigating the explosion process of nine-point exploding foil bridge
Abstract
The exploding foil initiator has been developed to satisfy the requirements of modern high-performance artillery and aerospace technologies with respect to speed, consistency, and safety. This study examines the explosive process of the nine-point exploding foil bridge through simulations and experiments. The factors affecting the detonation-related performance, such as the firing circuit, detonation mode, bridge foil shapes, and output charge are analyzed and discussed. The results could provide theoretical guidance and numerical support for practical application and testing.
