EVALUATION OF INTERDISCIPLINARY PATIENT CARE AT THE ORAL ONCOLOGY CENTER
Abstract
This paper reports the experience of an extension project "Optimization of multidisciplinary care of patients with head and neck cancer of Oral Oncology Center, School of Dentistry, UNESP-Araçatuba-". The objective of this project is evaluate the physical structure and the quality of multidisciplinary care offered to cancer patients. A questionnaire with twelve questions closed January 2013 to June 2014-165 patients treated at the Oral Oncology Center was applied. It was observed that most patients were male (91%) and evaluating both the physical structure and the quality of care as excellent (74.8%). As suggestion for improvement, 52 patients requested increased waiting and clinical care room and 10 improved meeting room in multi-therapy group. It is concluded that patients proved to be generally satisfied with the service provided, but it is necessary an improvement in the physical sectors and care. Some weaknesses in the process were identified, providing information to the improvement of their work, thus contributing to the optimization of services and patient satisfaction. This implies the awareness of the whole team for their importance and value of their shares.
