Same and Yet Different? A Comparative Look at Jewish, Christian, and Islamic Law
Abstract
This paper deals with similarities and differences in Jewish, Christian, and Islamic law. After some preliminary remarks it carves out the characteristics of religious law, the personal scope of its applications and its regulatory areas. Furthermore the paper shows who enacts, developes and comments on these legal systems. By examining how these religious norms interact with state law, the papers tries to draw some lessons for the current discussion about legal pluralism.
