Thanks to the good cooperation of the Section of Emergency Medicine SLD and the Hungarian military medicine center ('HonvédKórház'), professional training for eight specialists in urgent medicine was provided, for a period of one month. 'HonvédKórház' was founded in 1899, and from the very beginning it was one of Budapest's leading institutions. It contains the largest trauma centre in the region. It covers a surface area of approximately 2.000 m2 with 10 ambulances, 3 surgical rooms and an observation room with 20 beds. All patients are classified into five categories: 1. Red Category - Patients of first order of urgency 2. Orange Category - Patients of second order of urgency 3. Yellow Category - Patients of third order of urgency 4. Green Category 5. Blue Category. Ambulances is divided into internal medicine units, trauma units and surgery units, each providing different levels of equipment. A medical helicopter transport service is in existence since 1998. With recent restructuring it now has 7 bases covering an area of 80 km (15 minute flights). Besides the duty at the medical center there was time for socializing and for visiting the sights of Budapest.
