Bacterial diseases in aquaculture seriously affect fish health and cause economic loss. These bacterial diseases have been focused to overcome it and solve its resultant problems through various approaches. The safer and environmentally friendly approach being considered is understanding the host fish immune factors. Certainly, the farming of obscure puffer (Takifugu obscurus) faces bacterial outbreak and thus work is underway to discover its potential immune factors against bacterial infections. This review discusses all the antibacterial proteins that have been discovered yet and are thought to be involved against bacterial infection in obscure puffer. This inclusive single document of background and pioneer knowledge may act as a base for further ways to understand and explore the immune factors of the economically important obscure puffer and other fish in general.
