Semantic syncretism of attributive adverbs of B. Pasternak’s lyrics

Abstract

Semantic syncretism of attributive adverbs of B. Pasternak’s lyrics The article is devoted to the phenomenon of qualitative-quantitative semantic syncretism and specifics of its manifestation at the level of adverbial lexemes of B. Pasternak’s lyrics. Adverbs which on the basis of the primary qualitative meaning develop quantitative semes are described. It is found out that syncretical adverbial lexemes differ on degree of explication of semes ‘quality’ and ‘quantity’. The structural-semantic peculiarities of adverbs providing combination of these semes are given. The research also defines how the poet uses the syntagmatic potential of adverbial lexemes to increase its ambivalence. Modes and ways of actualization of adverbial syncretism in B. Pasternak’s poetic texts are defined. The author of the article shows importance of syncretical adverbs in artistic system of the poet. It is proved that these lexemes are actively used by B. Pasternak to express of the key motives of his creativity. Polysemantic adverbs help the poet to give to poetic lines vigor and at the same time special semantic density.
