Background: Breast cancer is the most common cancer and the second leading cause of cancer death among women. Regarding that chemotherapy drugs are often associated with adverse effects on the patients. Common medicinal therapies for breast cancer have often short term effects and some of them lead to drug resistance. The target of this study is to determine the effects of aqueous and hydro-alcoholic extract of Aloe Vera on MCF 7 cells. Materials and Methods: After culturing MCF7 cancer cells in the PRMI 1460 medium, both aqueous and hydro-alcoholic extract of Aloe Vera was prepared in concentrations of 20, 40, 60, 80 and 100 μg/mL from bulk solution. Then MCF7 cells were contacted with different concentration of prepared extract. The MTT test and Acridine Orange / Propidium Iodide (AO/PI) stained was used to determine the survival rate of cells. Doxorubicin (0.1 Mm) was used as positive control. The T-Student test was used in order to analyze the data using SPSS 21. p< 0.05 was considered as significant level. Result: The results of MTT assay and viability showed that different concentrations of ethanol extracts of Aloe Vera plant to the concentration of the extract significantly and dose-dependently decreased cell proliferation of MCF7 gets (p < 0.05). Conclusion: It seems should be considered that hydro alcoholic extract can be used as a natural compound in the treatment of breast cancer.
