Guillain-Barre Syndrome is the most common cause of acute polyradiculoneuropathology. It is an immunological illness, predominantly motor proximal, demyelining and inflammatory, and triggered by a viral or bacterial infectious process, surgery, vaccines or medication. It is the most frequent cause of acute flaccid paralysis, with an annual incidence of 0.4 to 2.4 cases per 100.000 habitants. The Varicella-Zoster virus belongs to the Herpes virus family, and Varicella is its most frequent manifestation, in association with lung complications (pneumonitis), Reye Syndrome and neurological complications such as: Encephalitis, meningitis, cerebellitis, transverse myelitis and Guillain-Barré Syndrome. A case of Guillain-Barré Syndrome, in a 55 year-old patient male, after suffering infection by Varicella-Zoster, is presented.
