This case study describes the treatment of a 30 year old male with a long history of chest wall pain due to intercostal myosis. He received 12 treatments, once per week, of deep friction massage towards tender points in intercostal muscles, followed by a standard heat-pack. Gradually he regained physical training such as walking, jogging and weightlifting for the upper body. He also returned to work after being on sick-leave for more than eight months. After two years he reports well-being, having no symptoms and are working full time. An ongoing randomised controlled trial is scrutinizing the effect of the treatment described in this case report for patients with pain due to intercostals myosis.
