A method of determining the importance of fault components for CNC equipment based on the house of availability model and extension analytic hierarchy process is proposed. Drawing on the idea of quality function deployment theory, starting from the user availability requirements of CNC equipment, taking into account the users’ demand and weight, the self-correlation of CNC equipment failure components, the correlation between the failure components and the user’s availability requirements, the market competition information and so on, the house of availability model of CNC equipment is established. Considering the uncertainty in the correlation coefficient and autocorrelation coefficient, the extension analytic hierarchy process is used to obtain the component importance. The research shows that the importance of CNC equipment can more truly reflect the user’s and market’s demand for availability based on the availability house and extension analytic hierarchy process. An accurate measure of component importance considering the correlation between components make the availability assurance technology adopted based on the importance can better meet the requirement. The combination of market competition information and user demand information enhances the pertinence of availability improvement measures and provides more scientific guidance for the availability guarantee of CNC equipment products.
