The fiction's credibility: EC cooperation agreements with the countries of Andean Group and Central America
Abstract
The EC relations with Andean Group and Central American countries havesuffered severa1 ups and downs. Nevertheless, as time went by, some legal agreements and a cooperation policy have been established. These achievements, although effective, turn out to be insufficient in order to satisfy the new challenges that imply the resurgence of the Latin America integration process and the endeavours of thesecountries to diversify their foreign relations. This situation could be explained by the EC's nature whose functioning is closer to that of an international organization. Therefore the EC member states will have to undertake bilateral policies in order to adjust themselves to the new realities.
