Estimation of variance components from the measurement in a geodetic network

The precision of geodetic instruments used for precise measurements in geodetic networks is described by the dispersion σ2 or the standard deviation σ. Some of geodetic instruments, like electro optic range-finder and its accuracy are characteristized by the formule: .21βϑϑσ+= The estimation methods of the parameters 1ϑand 2ϑ from the data acquired by geodetic measurements on the geodetic baseline. Methods and mathematical models of these parameters estimation (variance coefficients) directly from the measuring experiment in the geodetic network with the estimate of indeterminateness are presented together with the comparison of achieved results of estimates by the mentioned methods.
