Study on factors affecting the competitiveness of Ben Tre’s tourism businesses
Abstract
This study aims to identify factors affecting competitiveness of Ben Tre’s tourism businesses in association with specific economic, social and natural conditions of the locality. By combining both qualitative and quantitative approaches, the researcher conducts a survey of 359 respondents who are directors, deputy directors or authorized directors in charge of leading, managing and running a tourism business. The participants also have great working experience and understand the business situation of their enterprises. The results show that there are 8 factors affecting the competitive capabilities of tourism businesses in Ben Tre and that the degree of influence of each factor on their competitiveness is different. These factors include human resources, product quality, environmental conditions of the destinations, price competition, organizational and management capabilities, marketing capability, brand name and social responsibility. The study has tested models as well as scales of the above influential factors and the findings are satisfactory and reliable. The study also recommends some specific solutions to help enhance the competitive capabilities and ensure the sustainable development for tourism businesses in Ben Tre in the coming time.
