Comparison of the duration of the cell cycle in successive generation of synchronously dividing antheridial filaments of Chara vulgaris L. as measured with 3H thymidine
Abstract
Duration of the cell cycle in synchronously dividing cells of successive generation of antheridial filaments in Chara vulgaris L. was estimated on-the basis of labeling with 3H thymidine. Duration of the cell cycle is proportional to the volume of cells and with their decreasing in the consequence1 of consecutive divisions, the cell cycle becomes shorter. In the 2-, 4-, 8-, and 16-cell generations the length of the S period remains constant, so the duration of the G2 period is gradually reduced.
