In the steel frames of civil and industrial buildings, the most complex and responsible are the nodal interfaces of crossbars with columns, on the reliability of which the bearing capacity and rigidity of the frame depend. The features of typical structural solutions of frame assemblies are such that the involvement of individual sections of the material in the zone of plastic deformations begins at relatively low loading levels. At the same time, the designers do not take into account the influence of the elastic–plastic work of some elements of the node on the deformation and redistribution of forces in the frame. The presence of stress concentrators and the appearance of defects and damages, the probability of which increases in real operating conditions, can lead to premature failure of the frame elements. In order to eliminate erroneous ideas about the work of the frame assembly in the limiting state, it is necessary to perform a large number of experimental and analytical studies of the stress-strain state of the nodal joints. The authors carried out studies of the computational model, testing of samples of flange assemblies, as well as an analysis of the correspondence between the stress-strain state of digital models and experimental samples.
