Evolution of the economy of Goiás under the Input-Output Matrix analysis

Abstract

The objective of this study is to carry out a sectoral comparison of the economy of Goiás between the years 2011 and 2015, based on the Multiregional Input-Output Matrix (MRIO). Specifically, we observe the evolution of the field of influence indicators and backward and forward linkages of 22 aggregated sectors. The study fills an important gap: there were no studies in the literature with the present scope for Goiás, which is an important Brazilian player of agribusiness, a major producer and exporter of grains and animal protein. The results showed that the state has few key sectors in its economy, with low linkages among them. So far, there was no significant structural change in the analyzed period.
