Photonic nanowires with a very small effective mode area in comparison with conventional optical fibers are good candidates for nanophotonics devices and photonic integrated circuits. In this paper, a comparative study for the propagation of short telecommunication pulses at 1550 nm in different photonic nanowires made of silicon, chalcogenide (including As2Se3 and As2S3) and tellurite is presented. By using the method of SSF which stands for split-step Fourier, the nonlinear Schrödinger equation can be numerically solved to analyze the temporal and spectral outputs. The presented results show that in the chalcogenide nanowire of As2S3 and the tellurite nanowire which possess very lower nonlinear coefficient than other nanowires, minimum spectral and temporal variations for the pulse take place.
