Background: E curriculum flexibility allows Higher Education institutions to introduce their own subjects, which contextualise contents to their needs, as stated by teachers and students. Objective: to characterize a course aimed at the integration of morphofunctional contents of the masticatory apparatus, for second-year Stomatology students, implemented in 2020-2021 course, at the University of Medical Sciences of Camagüey. Methods: a quantitative-qualitative study was carried out by the Department of Basic Biomedical Sciences, the Faculty of Stomatology, the university and during the course previously declared. The research was structured in three stages: course design, implementation and evaluation. For assessing the course, 20 students in the group were used as a study universe, interviewed and answered the course survey. Results: the "Morphofunctional integration of the masticatory apparatus" course was designed with a total of 40 hours, 26 hours of classroom interaction and the rest of distance learning, supported by the virtual classroom. Structured into five themes, with a predominance of independent work; workshop classes and seminars made up 70 % of course time. It was delivered in the second semester. Students highly assessed the items explored over the course. No negative criteria on the course were stated and it was evaluated as integrative and excellent. Conclusions: the course promotes the integration of morphofunctional contents of the masticatory apparatus, leadership and cognitive independence of students who regard it as integrative.
