L’image de chantier domestique : une esthétique à l’épreuve de la pluralité des regards
Abstract
What is a "work site image"? Does it differ depending on whether it is taken by a resident, a researcher, an artist or a craftsman? On the contrary, how is it similar regardless of the author? This paper focuses on the porosity of the motifs – considered both as reasons and patterns – and the uses of domestic work site images taken by these different types of authors. It is based on a research built at the crossroads of art and social sciences, consisting in "grasping the work site through images" from an empirical study combining the collection of images of home renovation and interviews. Taking note of this porosity of the motifs and the resonances existing through hundreds of domestic work site images, here is explored the hypothesis of an “aesthetic of the work site”, potentially situated at the crossroads of the ordinary, the infra-ordinary and extra-ordinary, between everyday world and artistic dimension.
