The opening of the autonomous (independent) region of Kurdistan in Iraq on its neighbors engendered new economic and human dynamics. Border posts are used as gates to products imported massively with the money of the oil. Turkish, Iranian and also Chinese products flood the region. Nevertheless, the Kurdish autonomous region did not break with the illegal traffics of goods that continue to make a living for a part of the border zones as well as the well structured smuggling networks that extend much further. Secret smugglers, working for rich transit traders, cross regularly the borders of the region feeding a lucrative secret economy. So the role of cross-border region between Turkey and Iran is, without doubt, one of the main assets that Kurdistan of Iraq possesses.
