As associações religiosas enquanto espaços de poder: as famílias paulistanas e a ordem terceira de São Francisco (século XVIII)
Abstract
The Third Order of Saint Francis had their communities built in strategic places of social and religious influence. Both concepts of Sacred and Profane were an inspiration for people to join these Institutions. During the 18th century, both men and women strive to join the Secular Third Order of Saint Francis. By doing so, they believed they would intensify their religious practice and social visibility reaching high positions. Some of the most important and influent families of the local communities had a part in this religious society. The objective of this thesis is to observe and understand how these families participate and reach power inside this Institution.
