INTERNATIONAL COMPETITIVENESS CONCERNING THE ADOPTION OF ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE
Abstract
The academic debate related to international competitiveness is amplified due to economic globalization, which has the ability to impact the role of states, but also businesses. The theories and determinants of competitiveness are reviewed too, as a result of the technological revolution, the artificial intelligence (AI) and the emergence of new business models. Are these disruptive technologies, like AI, able to induce a large-scale transformation of the world economy? Do the states have the capacity to manage the risks related to these technologies? These are some of the questions to which the present paper is trying to bring some more clarifications. Yet, speaking of such disruptive technologies in their early stages, there are many aspects still open for further inquiries in order to find the proper answers. As preliminary research shows off, the USA and Germany seem to be better positioned as leaders in the global race to foster AI technologies, closely followed by China.
