BackgroundHefei advanced light facility (HALF) is a fourth-generation diffraction-limited storage ring (DLSR) in the range of the vacuum ultraviolet and soft X-ray region. Since 2017, HALF has been conducting pre-research and is considering off-axis injection scheme using nonlinear kicker.PurposeThis study aims to propose a new kind of nonlinear kicker for low emissivity storage ring to achieve beam injection into low emissivity storage ring.MethodsThe magnetic cores made of Mn-Zn ferrite was adopted as the structure of the kicker. The theoretical analysis of the magnetic field in the central region of the kicker was carried out by using OPERA2D/3D. The magnetic field patterns with different coating thicknesses were simulated. A complete prototype was produced and the magnetic field measurement was done.ResultsThe results show that the measured field in the center is about 3.6% of the peak filed strength, which is consistent well with the design requirements.ConclusionsThis work is of significance for beam injection of HALF.
