Purpose. The relevance of the study is determined by the increased interest of modern philology in the problems of constructing and interpreting the text. The purpose of the research is to determine the specificity of semantic relations arising in the constructions of grammatical parallelism. Methodology. To achieve the goal, the following methods were used: the method of continuous sampling, the method of observation over textsas well as the method of semantic analysis. Results. The result of the research is a description of the specifics of semantic relations between parts of constructions of grammatical parallelism. In the analyzed texts, the following complex of meanings is steadily realized: semantics of opposition, repetition of thought, convertibility, comparison, enumeration, gradation, cause and effect. The lexical and grammatical indicators of these meanings are described on the material of Old Russian oratorical prose. The general task of using grammatical parallelism in the text is to enhance the expressiveness of the statement. Practical implications. The conclusions obtained in the work can be used in the construction of a general theory and history of the formation of the Old Russian text, as well as in the preparation of educational and reference manuals.
