In the last few years have being increasing the studies about the History of Mathematics Education in Brazil. The discussions about the paternity of History of Mathematics Education and its relations with History, Education and Mathematics Education have being increasing too. These discussions are coming with another debates that show that the historians' work and the tools they use to write the history are changing, and influencing the work of mathematics education researchers as the same way. These influences are making possible the enlargement of some concepts and admission of new visions about historic research, which are being incorporated by researchers of Brazilian history of mathematics education. This paper intends to empathize the use of journals as a historic source, rich to comprehend schools practices, pointing out its importance as means of spreading the Modern Mathematics movement ideas in Brazil.
