Abstract: Archives constitute the collective memory of a nation, safeguarding its administrative, cultural, and historical legacy. They provide essential raw materials for researchers and historians to delve into the past and forge the future. International collaboration in archiving is pivotal for preserving mutual histories and facilitating the exchange of expertise and contemporary techniques in document conservation and management. The cooperation agreement between Qatar and Algeria in archival matters exemplifies such collaborative efforts. This article aims to dissect the said cooperation protocol between the two nations from an archival viewpoint, emphasizing the goals, strategies, and hurdles encountered in this partnership. The conclusion underscores the indispensability of ongoing collaboration, adoption of cutting-edge technologies, and the harmonization of public policies in the archival domain between the two countries. It also accentuates the critical role of implementing Article 8, which calls for updating the protocol’s provisions to reflect current technological advances.
