Objective: To evaluate the value of MDCT as modality of choice in the diagnosis of postoperative complications after laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy. Patients and methods: The study included 37 patients who underwent Laparoscopic sleeve Gastrectomy (LSG) for morbid obesity at the Zagazig University Hospitals. Patients were examined post operatively by upper gastrointestinal series (UGIS) and MDCT scan in search for acute or chronic complications as clinically indicated. Results: The study included 40 complications in 37 patients. MDCT detected all local and systemic complication whereas, UGIS detected only 7 local complications. Leak seen in MDCT in 10 cases in comparison with UGIS which only detected 3 cases. Both techniques were equal in diagnosis of stricture 4 cases each; otherwise, MDCT was markedly superior in detecting other complications than UGIS. Conclusion: Multi-detector CT should be used as the modality of choice in diagnosing the post-operative local and systemic complication after laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy.
