Abstract

The violence against elderly is increasing by several reasons, such as increase of elderly people, elderly frail and old persons living alone. The Author makes a reflexion about violence against elderly and what is the role of the PHC Professionals.These professionals have a great proximity to the clients, the family and the local community. They give continuity of care to all of them. They can early detect signals of violence, and to give any kind of support both to the victim and to the aggressor. They also can refer them to specialist on violence and to the adequate institutions and minimize side effects. They also have a role on the social rehabilitation of the victim and of the aggressor. But the PHC Professionals need adequate training and to inform about the institutions and how to reach them
