Comics, in the last three or four decades, have been stablishing as a favorable language not only to the entertainment production, but is able to present stories with psychological, social, political and esthetic aspects. Therefore, subjects related to sexual practices start to being seen in a different way. If the comics, previously, brought sex as a adornment to the stories going frequently to hardcore pornography, recent works present sex with a real meaning in the stories. That is what we see in Borgia, a four volumes work written by Jodorowsky and drawn by Manara, one of the most remarkable artists when we talk about erotic comics. Then, this work has as goal analyses briefly the evolution about the definition of erotic in the comics, talking particularly about Borgia. Therefore, we use the concepts of erotic in the comics developed by Calazans (1998; 2004), as well as concepts about erotic in other languages, like literature, according to Alexandrian (1993), and cinema, according to Abreu (1996). Finally, we conclude that comics avoid describing obscenity and bring sophisticated views about erotic as far as comics language develop respectability as artistic manifestation, a social and cultural phenomenon, only seen at the end of the 20th century and still raising.
