V. I. Vernadsky National Library of Ukraine: Scientific and Library Informational Work during the quarantine of 2020
Abstract
The article summarizes and highlights the features of the multifaceted activities of V. I. Vernadsky National Library of Ukraine as a leading research library institution of the NAS of Ukraine in 2020, under restrictions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. Such aspects as basis for reformation and methodological support of all forms and types of library work, the enhancement of digital resources development, services for remote users, and access to Internet, which has allowed to double the number of information users, are highlighted. The article summarises results of research and scientific informational work. Throughout 2020 V. I. Vernadsky National Library of Ukraine has worked during quarantine restrictions and during internal structural changes, researchers had to do their work remotely, and the plans for scientific research, scientific methodological, scientific organizational, scientific informational work have been fully realized. The work efficiency has been increased in such spheres as integration of scientific information on all medium types, in information, scientific and analytical support of researchers, education and culture workers, needs of public administration; library and informational services for remote readers. The active organization of digital resources of academic science and access to knowledge, databases of scientific information, basis for the scientific periodicals digital repository were improved; the access to foreign databases of scientific information and resources of bibliometric and scientometric information was significantly facilitated, and all of these changes took place in 2020. The participation of V. I. Vernadsky National Library of Ukraine (mainly online) in international, all-Ukrainian scientific and scientific-practical conferences, seminars and other scientific and organizational events has increased. The state attestation of scientific institutions of the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine has categorized V. I. Vernadsky National Library of Ukraine into the A category, having confirmed its high status as an undisputable leader in the sphere of interdisciplinary researches on development of the national and worldwide digital scientific informational space and universal resources for science; providing storage of the national manuscript and book cultural heritage and its inclusion into the scientific and cultural circulation.
