AVALIAÇÃO DOS IMPACTOS DA IMPLANTAÇÃO DOS PARQUES EÓLICOS SOBRE A RENDA DOS MUNICÍPIOS POTIGUARES / Assessment of the impacts of the implementation of the wind farms on the income of potiguar municipalities

Abstract

Este trabalho tem como objetivo analisar o impacto da implantação dos parques eólicos na renda per capita dos municípios do estado do Rio Grande do Norte. Utilizando um modelo de Escore de Propensão para realizar o emparelhamento dos indivíduos semelhantes para o período de 2010 a 2019, os resultados mostram que ao longo do período analisado, os municípios que possuem parques eólicos apresentam uma diferença positiva em sua renda per capita. No entanto, nos anos de 2012 e 2013 não houve diferenças significativas entre as rendas municipais. Já no período de 2016 a 2019, os resultados obtidos por ambos os métodos de pareamento foram semelhantes. Este estudo apresenta uma importante contribuição para o entendimento dos efeitos econômicos diretos da implantação das usinas de energia eólica nos municípios potiguares, sendo o primeiro esforço nesse sentido. Abstract: This study aims to analyze the impact of wind power plants implementation on the per capita income of municipalities in the state of Rio Grande do Norte, Brazil. Using a Propensity Score model to perform matching of similar individuals for the period from 2010 to 2019, the results show that throughout the analyzed period, municipalities with wind power plants have a positive difference in their per capita income. However, there were no significant differences between municipal incomes in 2012 and 2013. In the period from 2016 to 2019, the results obtained by both matching methods were similar. This study makes an important contribution to understanding the direct economic effects of wind power plant implementation in the municipalities of Rio Grande do Norte and is the first effort in this direction.
