This paper provides an overview of the sharing economy and its application on the tourist market. Sharing economy is a new trend in the economy which is connected with direct exchange of goods and services between consumers who communicate with each other by special websites. This article presents the concept of sharing economy and identifies it on the tourist market. The most famous website among tourists which offers a variety of cheaper accommodation is Airbnb company that becomes a real competitor to the hotels sector. The research methodology is based on a literature review.
