NR/SBR rubber composites were prepared with nylon 66 short fibre, aramid short fibre and polyester short fibre as reinforcing agents, and natural rubber (NR) and styrene-butadiene rubber (SBR) as matrix respectively. The effects of type, length and content of short fibre on tensile properties, hardness and tear strength of rubber composites were studied by orthogonal experiment. The results showed that immersion-treated nylon 66 short fibre had the strongest combination with rubber matrix. Immersion-treated nylon 66 short fibre could effectively improve the tensile strength of rubber matrix, and to a certain extent, with the increase of the length and addition amount of short fibre, the tensile strength of rubber composites was improved. In addition, the addition of short fibre improved tear strength and hardness of rubber composites, however, elongation at break was decreased.
