Agribusiness, environmental impacts and conflicts over the use of agrochemicals in northern Argentina
Abstract
In Argentina, the model of extractive agricultural development has generated profound and irreversible impacts. To the loss of biodiversity due to deforestation, must be added the increasing territorial conflict linked to the expulsion and destruction of peasant and indigenous ways of life, and the affections to the health of the fumigated peoples. Based on primary and secondary sources, the article explores the emergence and trajectory of conflicts and controversies surrounding the use of agrochemicals in the provinces of Salta and Santiago del Estero.
