Article Highlights Fiber size reduction benefits enzymatic high gravity hydrolysis of steam-exploded wheat straw. Small fiber size of ≤ 2.5 mm enables saccharification at 35% w/w solid loadings. Water-retention capacity of cellulosic fibers influence slurry viscosity and yielded glucose concentration.
