ARCHAEOLOGICAL COMPLEXES, AND CULTURAL AND CHRONOLOGICAL INTERPRETATION OF THE PETROGLYPHS LOCATED IN THE LOWER TOM' RIVER ROCK ART AREA (HISTORIOGRAPHICAL REVIEW)
Abstract
The paper focuses on historiography of Lower Tom' River rock art area researches. The authors analyze conceptions and hypotheses about the cultural and chronological identity of the Lower Tom' River rock art area petroglyphic complexes presented in scientific works by Russian researchers of the 1960s – 2010s. The paper generalizes the experience of using the archaeological complexes for cultural and chronological interpretation of rock art images in Lower Tom' River region, and validates the association of the cultural and chronological complexes of the region with the petroglyphs from Lower Tom' River rock art sites.
