Abstract

(Series Information) European Papers - A Journal on Law and Integration, 2023 8(1), 93-97 | European Forum Highlight of 24 May 2023 | (Abstract) The contribution asks why it is that German-speaking EU law academics based in in the UK and Ireland publish so little in their native language. Three explanations are advanced: the incentive structure in the UK, which is dominated by the Research Excellence Framework (REF); different dominant methodological approaches in German- and English-language scholarship; and Brexit as a possible driver away from EU law research for UK-based academics.
