In the course of history, the suicidal acts haves hockedei ther by the brutality with which they were committed or by the causes, mostly absurd, that determinedthem. The attempts to explain the decision to resort tosuch a gesture – to put an end to one’s own life as a supreme form of self- aggression – have been the concern of specialists from different areas. Suicide in the world registers nearly one million people yearly. About 10-20 million people have suicidal attempts every year. The real number of people committing suicide isprobably much higher, because some of the deaths have been considered and recorded as accidents. In the world, suicide is the eighth cause of death in man and the sixteenth in women, and among the people in manand the sixteenth the ages of 10 and 24, suicide is the third cause of death.
