Lamnam Lanna: Memory and Literary Convention in Contemporary Local Poetry
Abstract
This article aimed to analyze the contemporary local poetry titled “Lamnam Lanna” through the framework of memory and literary convention. The results showd that Uae Maneerat wrote a literature consisting of 731 poems and 2 poems in the final destiny of the literature, and expressed the memory and views on the stories of the 8 northern provinces of Thailand. The poet has also shown the memory of monarchy, historical memory, Lanna social memory, and identity of Lanna cultural memory. In the literary convention, word and sentence are dominant ni this literature in which words are easy to understand, have clear meaning, and smooth either voice or meaning. Furthermore, the poet expressed his loyalty and appreciation for his Majesty King Phra Bat Somdet Phra Boromchanakathibet Maha Bhumibol Adulydej Maharai Borommanatbophit and Somdet Phra Srinagarindra Borommaratchachonnani to be auspicious for life and to honor the monarchy.
