Family Values in Modern Media Education
Abstract
The relevance of the topic of the article is determined by the fact that the humanistic orientation is becoming an important vector of modern media education. Students who specialize in the field of Journalism and Mass Communications should be professionally oriented and prepared to understand the social problems of society, the spiritual world of man as well as modern socio-cultural practices. They should understand and replicate traditional values. Such values include the family as a significant social institution. The scientific novelty of the study is that the authors analyze the theoretical and practical approaches to the educational program of future journalists, which reveal the specifics of the functioning of the family institution and contribute to the development of technologies for promoting family values in the modern media space. The purpose of the work is to receive and comprehend the educational programs and courses of the Department of Journalism of Lobachevsky University, within the framework of which students are taught to form a media agenda that includes social issues, as well as to replicate traditional values, for example, the values of family, motherhood and childhood, which contributes to the humanization of modern university journalism education, emphasizes the importance of social paradigms. The study is based on general scientific methods: analysis, synthesis, induction, deduction, classification, generalization, participant observation. Distribution questioning serves as an empirical method. The authors rely on the principles of consistency and complexity. The article considers the author’s course of the faculty of the Department of Journalism of the Lobachevsky University "Family Issues in the Media", graduation papers of bachelor and master journalists on the humanitarian agenda in the media, annual media monitoring on the coverage of the family theme in the federal and regional press. The authors conclude that the process of training journalists is a synthesis of theory and practice, students must not only learn a complex of social problems, form an idea of values and traditions but also succeed in solving humanitarian problems by participating in social and charitable projects.
