LEXICAL INSTRUMENTALITY OF CREATING MALE AND FEMALE CHARACTERS IN VASYL SHKLIAR’S HISTORICAL NOVEL «MARUSIA»
Abstract
The article is devoted to the analysis of lexical means used for creating male and female characters in one of Vasyl Shkliar’s historical novels. In creating character’s image, his substantive communicative and esthetic integrity, the major part is provided to character’s portrait which can become one of the most expressive elements in the imagery structure. One or another portrait fragment isn’t accidental but it aims to mold completed imagery. There isn’t distinct line between the imagery and the character as a good portrait-painter never embarrasses himself with literal appearance copying. A sensitive artist depicts features, clothes and manners revealing dominating social phenomena of his era – its preferences, fashion and habits. That is the reason why character’s portrait in work of fiction is a wide term including appearance description of the character, his social attributes, linguistics portrait and his inner condition presentment. Modern famous writer Vasyl Shkliar most of all uses different types of comparative constructions, epithets and characterizing definitions in creating images.
