Using Digital Tools to Support Scientific Communication: a Structural Model of Service Organization in HEI Libraries
Abstract
The relevance of the study is to develop theoretical and methodological foundations for the systematic implementation of services of using digital tools to support scientific communication in libraries of higher education institutions (HEI libraries) of Ukraine. The aim of the article is to propose the basic structural model of service organization of the use of digital tools to support scientific communication in HEI libraries. Research methodology. The method of scientific modelling was used in the research process. Results. The basic constituent elements of the offered model are the process of scientific communication at all research stages for which the realization of various digital tools are used; researchers — library users who need to meet the information needs in choosing the appropriate tools for communication; services for the use of digital tools to support scientific communication, which libraries offer users based on their information needs and on the characteristics of the communication process during the study; and a system for monitoring of user satisfaction with the results of the use of digital tools to support their communication in the research process. The author considers the described structural model of service organization: its practical application allows, depending on the specialization of HEI, both expansion and reduction of its constituent elements due to their unclaimed according to the profile of the institution, but with its basic structure and connections. Novelty. For the first time, the basic structural model of service organization of the use of digital tools of support of scientific communication in HEI libraries was developed, which optimally provides the realization of such basic stages of the research process as an “analysis”, “writing”, “publication”, “promotion” and “evaluation”. The practical significance. The material of this article can be used the offered structural model during the creation and support of new library services for the satisfaction of information needs of users of HEI libraries.
