The prediction of emotional regulation based on the students' Self-Compassion and body image

This study aimed to predict emotional regulation based on self-compassion and body image undergraduate students of Islamic Azad University of Urmia. The methodology this study was discraptive -correlation. 342 students (127 girls and 215 boys) was selected using convenience sampling method in 2016. Measurement tools included Neef’s self-compassion, scale their multi-dimensional relations - the body (MSRQ) Cash, and the scale of emotional regulation (2003) Gross – John. To analyze the data, Pearson's correlation coefficient, and regression analysis were used and independent t test. The findings revealed that all components of self-compassion, and body image, except gesture orientation there is a significant relationship with emotion regulation. All the positive components of self-compassion (self-kindness, a sense of common humanity and mindfulness) and the components of orientation of fitness and physical satisfaction in the body image plays an important role in predicting emotional regulation. Similarly, the findings of this study showed that not significant difference between self-compassion and body image based on gender. Therefore, the findings of this study approves that the positive aspects of self-compassion (self-kindness, Common Humanity and mindfulness) and the components orientation of fitness and physical satisfaction in body image play a fundamental role in the emotional regulation and management. .
