“Pro Hegel or contra”. Critical Considerations About the Use of the Concept End of History in F. Fukuyama

Abstract

The paper offers a critical consideration of the use of the concept of end of history proposed by F. Fukuyama. While dwelling on the presumed Hegelian genesis of the end of history and on a comparison with Hegel’s system, the main objective of the article is not to offer a philological investigation of the reading proposed by Fukuyama, but, through a comparison with the interpretative and philosophical perspective offered by A. Kojève, to investigate the political origin of the philosophy of history elaborated by Fukuyama and to evaluate its contradictions and criticalities.
