Factors for therapeutic effect of metal used in prosthetic dentistry
Abstract
Placing building materials, as part of prosthetic therapy, in changeable corrosive and biomechanical environment such as mouth, can cause mechanical irritation, technical failure and/or symptoms of allergic reaction. Interaction between the organism and biomaterial is very complex and defined as biocompatibility or biodegradation. It depends on contact place, structure of the cast, surface workability, oral hygiene as well as on patient's health and use of medicine. Symptoms of systemic diseases that can manifest in the mouth cannot be excluded. Factors for successful prosthetic therapy are: to know patient's general and dental anamnesis, the structure and properties of the materials and to keep records of all previous treatments.
