La cristología en América Latina antes y después de Medellín (1968). Giro en la comprensión de la cruz
Abstract
The Medellin document establishes the starting point of an original Christological reflection in Latin America. This essay concludes that this originality is because history has been recognized as being of greater epistemological importance. This innovation led Latin American theologians to rethink the cross in favor of the liberation of the poor rather than as an instrument of forgiveness of sins. To this effect, the Christology of liberation developed after the Second General Conference of the Latin American Bishops is compared with the Christology of the pre-conciliar manuals of De Verbo incarnato. The criticism by Eduardo Briancesco of the Christology of Medellín, collected at the beginning of the text, is useful to see the transition from one theological paradigm to another
