Bullous disorders are characterised by blisters. Blisters are defined as circumscribed skin lesions containing fluid. It is called a vesicle when it is less than 5mm, whereas a bulla measures larger than 5mm. The fluid can either be clear or haemorrhagic. Based on the depth of the skin involved it can be classified into intra-epidermal and sub-epidermal. Blisters of the skin can be induced by multiple disorders, which usually vary in children and adults. Given the multitude of causes, a child presenting with bullous lesion is a diagnostic challenge that requires an open mind and a keen eye so as to not miss any rare cause.
