Parenting styles between father and mother. Perspective of the son. Ciudad Juárez, Chih. Comparative study
Abstract
The purpose of this study is to compare parenting styles of both mother and father from the perspective of their children between eight and twelve years old who have showed violent behavior at school and come from violent families of low income in Ciudad Juarez, Chihuahua. The data shows significant differences between mother ́s and father ́s Parental Implication and Positive Parenting styles with mothers rating higher than fathers do. Also, no significant differences were found in Poor Supervision, Inconsistent Discipline, and Physical Punishment styles among fathers and mothers. According to these results, it becomes important to study both mothers and fathers separately, based on the significant differences found in behavior, but the similar presence of both parents. Also, because the negative and positive consequences of parental styles on their children during their early childhood and adolescence developmental stages
