In this article I analyze diverse practices, meanings and relationships produced by girls and boys in urban contexts of social inequality, from Villa María, Córdoba, Argentina. In dialogue with socio-anthropological studies, I describe and interpret work practices processed from this subaltern childhood condition. I seek to make visible the multiplicity of these childhood experiences, based on the modalities through which these girls and boys position themselves as social agents capable of resolving their material and symbolic conditions of existence with relative autonomy.
