The aim of this article is to illustrate the teachers, researchers, academics and students of the Human and Social Sciences, in a general view, but with distinctive features, about history, some theoretical foundations and some final considerations on the set of ideas and methods known as Structuralism. The methodology used was the investigation of bibliographical and documentary sources, selection of topics and pertinent texts to characterize structuralism, critical interpretation of contents for the elaboration of the text of the article and its composition. The article tends to conclude that structuralism moves between two extreme intentions, one of a Spinozist nature, in which the order of true knowledge without subject is emphasized; and another Nietzschean intention, which emphasizes expressing the play of the signifier and the meaning in the construction of knowledge.
